Acoustic recording from a dog with an Ortolani sign and radiographic osteoarthritis. The first peak represents subluxation of the hip, and the second larger peak represents reduction of the joint. Notice the larger and wider acoustic deflection of the first peak associated with subluxation, and the wider deflection of the second peak associated with joint reduction as compared to the dog without hip osteoarthritis (see Fig. 1)
