Quantile box plots of bone marrow fat index and main diagnostic category. Linear models using infections as reference level showed bone marrow index to be significantly lower in reindeer dying of infections compared to trauma (p = 0.002) or other causes (0.045). There was a tendency of a higher mean bone marrow percentage for animals killed by predators compared to those with infections (p = 0.072)
