  1. Shown are the data distributions of the 18 measured that were above the detection limit cytokines for the sample types (Sample) serum (S), heparin-plasma (H) and EDTA-plasma (E) and for the effect of isoflurane anesthesia (ANE): normal distribution (ND), log-normal distribution (Log) and non-normal distribution (NND), and the number (N) of samples in each group (NO_ANE /ANE). P-values and asymptotic significances of a repeated measured ANOVA, Friedman test, Wilcoxon-signed rank test and Mann Whitney test are given with significant differences highlighted in bold type. The conclusion states, for each cytokine, the difference between sample types, or whether no significant differences (NS) were found. Where significant differences were found the sample types are listed in increasing order based on their mean values. *IL-17A showed an overall significant difference in the Friedman test but not in the Wilcoxon-signed rank post hoc test, why the mean rank of the anticoagulant groups are listed in increasing order. Five cytokines (IL-3, IL-4, IL-5, IL-10 and Eotaxin) were below the detection limit and were therefore not included in the analysis.
