Nasal amyloid display apple green birefringence in polarized light. Multifocal to coalescing aggregates of hyaline, eosinophilic material in the lamina propria of the nasal mucocutaneous junction were observed perivascularly (arrow) and in a narrow subepithelial zone (arrowheads). The hyaline, eosinophilic material stained positive with Congo red and displayed apple green birefringence in polarized light. The collagen fibres of the lamina propria show white birefringence.
