  3. cBorn in total = number of piglets born in total per litter, Stillborn = percentage of piglets stillborn per litter, Mortality = percentage of piglet mortality between birth and weaning, wean/sow/year = weaned piglets per sow and year (assuming sows giving birth to 2.2 litters a year [7]), NPD = total number of non-productive days in sows lifetime
