  3. The index case was an abortion in barn 7. With the exception of the stallion barn and one questionable EHM case in the adolescent group (barns 9–11), all barns were affected. All affected barns were situated ≤ 50 meters next each other. The adolescent horses were stabled in barns 9–11, situated 500 to 1000 meters from the other barns. Horses from barns 1 – 7 used the same training facilities and paddocks.
