Comparison of the intensity of the cardiac murmur (on a 1–6 scale) as recorded by the referring first opinion veterinary practitioner and the age of 139 dogs (in years) when they were referred to the veterinary cardiology specialist for murmur evaluation. No correlation was found between the murmur intensity and the age at referral (correlation coefficient  =  -0.1). 0  =  absence of an audible murmur, 1  =  softest murmur, 6  =  loudest murmur
